Professional Resources
Many professional library and information science associations have special memberships just for MLIS students. These memberships are great ways to connect with others and get involved as a way to build your network. 

The American Library Association (ALA) is a non-profit organization based in the United States that promotes libraries and library education internationally. It is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with more than 62,000 members.

Free Virtual Library Conferences

Both Library 2.0 and The Digital Shift are annual virtual library conferences that are free and hosted live online. They are both digitally archived. The live sessions make a great for resource networking. During live sessions the chat features are turned on and you can connect with other library students and professionals in real time.
